Rakeda L. Thompson is a survivor and the epitome of strength in human form. As a small child, she was a victim of sexual assault from two people who her parents believed to be trustworthy—a family member and their next-door neighbor. When she was in her early twenties, she became a victim of domestic violence when, in November 2007, Rakeda was heading to work in Washington, D.C. During her commute, she was abducted, violently carjacked at gunpoint, taken to her home in Maryland, sexually assaulted by two young men, and robbed of several items.

Rakeda's story was published in the Washington Post on November 2, 2007, and she received an outpouring of love from the entire region. Rakeda's detective, Prince, inspired her to write her story. She decided to write "A Silent Kiss" on her journey to healing in hopes it might help others heal. One poem, "Forgiven," was written to her offenders and was read to them by Rakeda in court during their sentencing. Rakeda has chosen not to dwell on what happened to her but rather use the experience to help others not be ashamed or remain muted about their experiences.

Rakeda is a mother, author, accounting professional, and Maryland realtor who has a strong passion for helping others. She was born in Washington, D.C., where she earned her bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Trinity Washington University in 2014. In 2019, she earned a certificate in executive leadership management from Stayer University's master's program. In 2021, she started her own business called Beautiful from Within Event Planning & Décor, LLC.

With her book, she desires to break strongholds connected to trauma and low self-esteem. Her belief in Jesus Christ has been her strength, joy, and foundation. Her prayer is that after you have read this book, you would be covered with the blood of Jesus from the top of your head to the soles of your feet, that every demonic spirit that has attached itself to you believing that it has a license to wreak havoc over your life will be broken up and busted in the name of Jesus! She hopes that clarity will be revealed to your mind and that she is able to rescue every soul who reads this book, protecting them from harm and securing them.
